Newroz 2022: The Goal and Line of Resistance for the Year 2022 are Clear
Our people and our friends have flocked to the streets and squares in all four parts of Kurdistan and all over the world, especially in North Kurdistan and Turkey, for this year’s Newroz to liberate Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan]. Thus, they have given a historical lesson to AKP-MHP fascism, the reactionary center of the Middle East, and to all enemies of democracy and freedom. We congratulate our people and all our international friends for their stance and wish them success for their struggles in the ’50th Year of Our Leadership’.
With the slogans “Bîjî Serok Apo” [Long live Abdullah Öcalan] and “Önderliksiz Asla” [Never without Abdullah Öcalan], our people and all our international friends have once again demonstrated their close ties with Rêber Apo. They have flocked to the streets and squares to liberate Abdullah Öcalan, who has rendered great services to the Kurdish people, the peoples of the Middle East and the whole of humanity. Our people and our international friends have made it clear once again that they stand by the guerrillas and have confidence in them. Because the guerrillas, these selfless children of the people, risk their lives for the freedom of the people. Through this year’s Newroz, great recognition was given to Abdullah Öcalan’s efforts for the liberation of the Kurdish people, which began 49 years ago. At the same time, it brought the Kurdish people’s struggle, which has been going on for 49 years, to a new height. Newroz 2022 has clearly shown what kind of people has been created in the course of this 49-year struggle. Thus, this year’s Newroz heralds an even stronger struggle of the PKK and the Kurdish people for the `50th Year of Our Leadership`.
Every year, Newroz is the day when the Kurdish people create themselves anew on the basis of new values. The struggle of the Kurdish people has strengthened Newroz, just as Newroz has advanced and strengthened the struggle of the Kurdish people. As a result, the Kurdish people have become an invincible people of Newroz and uprisings. This year’s Newroz has also strengthened and recreated the Kurdish people based on new values. Through the leadership of women and youth, Newroz has always guaranteed the deepening and expansion of the democratic, social, cultural and national revolution. Because the Kurdish people have initiated all these revolutions very comprehensively, they continue to resist today despite all the attacks.
Since April 5, 2015, AKP-MHP fascism has imposed a total isolation against Rêber Apo. Thus, the severe attacks on the Kurdish people and democratic forces have continued for seven years. With these attacks, AKP-MHP fascism wanted to crush the Kurdish people and the democratic forces, establish a fascist dictatorship in Turkey and finish the genocide against the Kurds. For this purpose, the `Submission Plan` [Çöktürme Planı] was drafted in 2014, on the basis of which a policy of repression against the Kurdish people and democratic forces, unprecedented in its intensity in history, has been pursued. However, at Newroz 2022, the Kurdish people, their international friends and the democratic forces have clearly expressed that now the time of their victory has come. Through their uprising, they have defeated the ‘Submission Plan`. This year’s Newroz has put fascism in great fear as it has realized that the struggle of the Kurdish people and the democratic forces will bring about its end.
Newroz 2022 has also made clear that the common struggle of the Kurdish people and the democratic forces has become even stronger. This comprehensive uprising and this common fighting attitude announce the good news that a democratic Turkey, a free Kurdistan and a democratic Middle East are near. This year’s Newroz has thus shown once again that the future of Turkey will be shaped by the alliance of the Kurdish people and the democratic forces.
Since the blacksmith Kawa, the spirit and character of Newroz stands for an uprising against injustice. Thus, Newroz has always stood for the freedom struggle of the peoples and the oppressed. Through the uprising against AKP-MHP fascism, which keeps reactionary forces and oppression alive in the Middle East, a historic offensive for democracy and freedom was launched on this year’s Newroz. The people, through their stance, clearly showed what kind of political developments in Kurdistan, Turkey and the entire Middle East we will witness this year. Newroz 2022 thus represents a democracy congress of the people through which the program, goals and line of action of the struggle have been determined.
While Newroz terrifies all fascists, tyrants and oppressors, it has once again enormously increased the motivation of the Kurdish people, all their international friends and the democratic forces. This attitude of the people proves that they have an energy that can bring back to life even the dead. All revolutionaries, patriots and democrats who follow this attitude and the struggle of this people will join the struggle despite all oppression and tyranny and will be satisfied only when they are victorious.
Based on the strength they have drawn from this year’s Newroz, the Kurdish people and the democratic forces must lead their struggle in the ’50th Year of Our Leadership` in an even more organized and effective way. The attitude of the people at Newroz has clearly proved that all conditions for the alliance of the Kurdish people and the democratic forces and for the strengthening of their struggle are given. On the basis of this people’s reality, the struggle against AKP-MHP fascism, which tyrannizes the Kurdish people, exposes them to genocide and suppresses the democratic forces, must be strengthened. Thus, Rêber Apo must be liberated and a democratic Turkey, a free Kurdistan and a democratic Middle East must be created.
This is exactly the call of Mazlum, Zekiye, Rahşan, Ronahi, Berivan, Sema Yüce, Kemal Kurkut and all Newroz-Şehits [Fallen], of the values of the struggle that has been going on for 49 years and of Newroz 2022.
