It is Everyone’s Duty to Defend the Rojava Revolution Against the Occupation
We congratulate all the peoples of Rojava and North and East Syria, women, youth and all the peoples of the world on the 10th anniversary of the July 19 Rojava Revolution, the greatest and most meaningful revolution of the 21st century, and we respectfully commemorate and express our gratitude to all the martyrs of revolution and democracy in the person of those who were martyred in the realization and protection of the Rojava Revolution.
The July 19 Rojava Revolution is a great revolution of the peoples and women who triumphed in the 21st century in the struggle of the peoples for freedom against the rulers throughout history. As in all revolutions carried out by the oppressed in history, the July 19 Rojava Revolution was realized by struggling at great cost against oppression, exploitation, inequality and injustice. Therefore, the July 19 Revolution is part and parcel of the great human heritage. The July 19 Rojava Revolution, which is a continuation of the revolutions carried out by the oppressed against the rulers, has added very important and historical values to the world revolutions of the peoples by creating its own unique features.
One of the most distinctive features of the July 19 Revolution is that it is based on the construction of a democratic and libertarian society based on the common and free will of the peoples and society instead of power and state sovereignty. This characteristic of the July 19 Revolution enabled the revolution to achieve the utopia of equal and free life by completely eliminating the system of exploitation. This success of the July 19 Revolution is a very important and historical development. Since the revolutions realized by the oppressed peoples throughout history aimed at power and the state, they failed to achieve their real goals and the sovereignist system reasserted its rule. Because resorting to the tools of the state and power, which are the tools of the sovereignist system, has distracted the revolution from its goals. Thus, despite the revolutions that took place at great cost in history, the system of exploitation could not be abolished. This situation, which turned into a dilemma in the history of the world revolution, was resolved by the July 19 Revolution by carrying out the revolution without resorting to the instruments of power and the state. This represents a very important development in the history of world revolution. Undoubtedly, the creator of this idea is Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan]. Leader Apo brought a solution to the problem of revolution with the mentality of a moral and political society and the system of Democratic Confederalism. The July 19 Revolution was realized on these foundations. Therefore, the July 19 Revolution was based on the ideas and paradigm put forward by Leader Apo.
One of the most important features of the July 19 Revolution is that it is based on the mentality of the Democratic Nation. The Democratic Nation system, which is based on the equal coexistence of peoples, has made it possible for peoples, cultures and faith communities to live and govern themselves without clashing with each other, which has become the most important problem of the Middle East. The nationalism and nation-state system imposed on the Middle East, where peoples have lived intertwined throughout history, has led to the deepening of the problems in the Middle East and to the massacres of peoples in conflict with each other. Nationalism and the nation-state system have been contrary to the understanding of living together and in common, which is the most distinctive feature of the Middle Eastern geography. In fact, the nation-state system is a tool developed by capitalist modernity and is characterized by inequality and exploitation. The July 19 Revolution, based on the Democratic Nation mentality and system, has brought a solution to this deep-rooted problem that has become gangrene in the Middle East and has thus enabled the peoples to live together on the basis of equality.
Undoubtedly, the most distinctive feature of the July 19th Revolution is that it was based on women and women’s freedom. The July 19 Revolution was a women’s revolution in the full sense of the word. It is a first in history that a revolution based on women’s freedom was realized by overcoming the male-dominated understanding that led to the emergence and continuation of exploitation and inequality in history. Undoubtedly, women have played a role in every revolution. However, the July 19 Revolution is a revolution led by women and in which women are the will. The fact that the revolution is based on women’s leadership and will is a very important and historical development. Based on the Democratic Nation system and the Democratic Confederalism system, the July 19 Revolution, which historically brought solutions to the dilemmas faced by revolutions, built the path that will ensure the radical elimination of social problems by relying on women’s leadership and freedom.
In the process we are in, the July 19 Revolution is facing significant dangers and it has become very important to protect the revolution by eliminating these dangers. The defense of the Rojava Revolution against the invasion threats of the genocidal colonialist Turkish state is the most fundamental and urgent problem. It is the most fundamental duty and responsibility of being a revolutionary and patriot to protect the revolution against invasion attacks. AKP-MHP fascism, which has the Kurdish hostility mentality of the genocidal colonialist Turkish state, acts with the reflex to attack and destroy everything with the name of Kurdishness and wants to destroy the Rojava Revolution. It has already occupied parts of Rojava and Syria and is committing the crime of genocide by changing the demography as well as the inhumane practices it implements in these occupied places. The Turkish state and the AKP-MHP government are Kurdish enemies and ultimately want to eliminate Kurdish existence by carrying out a Kurdish genocide. The occupation of Rojava and the elimination of the Democratic System of North and East Syria is seen as one of the most important stages of achieving this goal. For this purpose, the occupation of Rojava and the elimination of the revolution are absolutely necessary for them. AKP-MHP fascism, which tried to bring an end to the revolution with the help of attacking gangs, especially Daesh [ISIS], by secretly standing behind these gangs in the past, wants to realize the liquidation of the revolution today by walking in front of the gangs. Therefore, the real Daesh is the AKP-MHP. Everyone, especially the forces and peoples of North and East Syria, must take a stance and stand against the invasion of the AKP-MHP fascism. The measure of being Kurdish, patriotic, revolutionary and democratic is to take a clear stance against the AKP-MHP occupation and stand against it. Those who do not take this stance will not be accepted by history and society. The Rojava revolutionary forces fought against the brutality of Daesh – this enemy of humanity – and gave thousands of martyrs thus stopping Daesh. By stopping Daesh, Rojava revolutionary forces saved not only Rojava and Syria, but the whole world from a great danger. Because Daesh is a threat not only for Rojava but for all humanity. However, the US, NATO and European states, which have so far tried to take a share in the fight against Daesh, have shown great hypocrisy by openly supporting the Kurdish genocide policies of the AKP-MHP, which have the same mentality as Daesh and support these gangs. It is a complete distortion to state that support is given under the name of security concerns of the Turkish state. The US, NATO and European states know very well that this is a distortion, that the AKP-MHP government is a threat and security problem for Rojava, Syria and the whole region, not the security of the Turkish state. But for the sake of economic and political interests, they support the Kurdish genocide policies of AKP-MHP fascism. Therefore, these states are partners in the AKP-MHP fascism’s Kurdish genocide policies and the crimes committed by the AKP-MHP. These states commit these crimes on behalf of the countries and peoples they represent. From this point of view, the peoples and democratic circles of these countries must take a stance against this and oppose the support for the Kurdish genocide policies and the occupation plan of Rojava on their behalf and not give way to this.
Just as the forces and peoples of North and East Syria defeated Daesh and saved humanity from a great scourge by standing against Daesh fascism, they will also stand against the invasion of AKP-MHP fascism, which has the same mentality as Daesh and supports Daesh. They will defeat the AKP-MHP and save the world from a bigger and more dangerous scourge than Daesh. Already, our people and the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla are engaged in an uninterrupted struggle and resistance everywhere against the Kurdish genocide attacks of AKP-MHP fascism. As the Kurdish Freedom Movement, we call on all the peoples of the world, revolutionary and democratic groups to stand with the peoples of Rojava North and East Syria and defend the Rojava Revolution today as they have done in the past. The Rojava Revolution is the common revolution of all peoples, women, the oppressed and humanity. It is a duty for everyone to defend the Rojava Revolution against the occupation. As a result of the joint struggle of the forces and peoples of North and East Syria and the support of the peoples and women of the world, AKP-MHP fascism will be defeated and the July 19 Revolution, the common revolution of peoples and women, will survive. With this belief, we once again congratulate all the peoples of Syria and the Middle East, especially the peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria, women and the peoples of the world, on the July 19th Revolution on its 10th anniversary.
